The Youth of the Year award recognises outstanding contributions to the community by a 13 to 18-year-old young person. Nominations must come from the community and the nominee’s school.

The Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers (formerly the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award) recognizes the exceptional volunteer achievements of Canadians from across the country in a wide range of fields.
